garlic for yeast infection during pregnancy

Getting a yeast infection during pregnancy is unfortunately a common occurrence for many women, but fortunately you can opt to treat yeast infections naturally using garlic! This article will give you some great information about why garlic is such a fantastic home remedy for yeast infections, and will also provide you with practical information about how to use garlic to treat your yeast infection. So keep reading on to find out more!

Pros and Cons of Treating Yeast Infections While Pregnant with Garlic

Garlic is such a fantastic all-natural cure because it is versatile, easy to use, and you probably already have a few cloves in your pantry, maybe leftover from the last time you made pasta sauce or cooked a stir fry! Garlic has amazing antifungal properties that work with your body to kill off the candida fungus and therefore restore the natural balance of good and bad bacteria within your body. By choosing to use a home remedy such as garlic, you are ensuring that you are only putting natural things into your body – just as Mother Nature herself intended!

Many prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications contain chemicals that are manufactured in labs, and have names that we can’t even pronounce! Because they are unnatural and chemically produced, these medicines can have potentially harmful side effects, many of which are even more irritating and uncomfortable than the yeast infection itself. So use garlic, or one of the many other natural cures recommended on this website, and you will be working with your body instead of against it.

Causes of Vaginal Yeast Infections During Pregnancy

During pregnancy, yeast infections are common occurrences. This is because the hormonal changes during pregnancy mean that your body produces more estrogen, which can potentially encourage the production of yeasts, such as the candida fungus. In addition, candida naturally thrives in warm, moist environments, which means that the vagina is especially susceptible to yeast infections: the onset of pregnancy and the hormonal changes it incurs, therefore, makes the possibility of a vaginal yeast infection all the more likely.

Make Juice with Garlic to Cure Vaginal Yeast Infections

One of the many reasons garlic is a fantastic cure for vaginal yeast infections is that it can be used in a variety of ways. Many people already include garlic as a part of their regular diet, such as in seasoning and marinating foods, but it is best to consume the garlic raw, rather than cook it. This may not be such a tantalizing prospect – raw garlic is quite pungent and not to everyone’s tastes! Check out this great recipe below!

Recipe: Bloody Mary ‘Mock’tail

  • 2 peeled garlic cloves
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 stalk of celery
  • 2 tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Put the garlic cloves, carrot, celery and tomatoes through a juicer.
  • Stir the mixture and taste – add a sprinkle of salt and pepper if required.
  • Enjoy with breakfast each morning to help your body work naturally to cure the vaginal yeast infection!

If you find the taste of the raw garlic too pungent, only add one clove. Alternatively, you can add more veggies and split the mixture into two glasses – one for today’s breakfast and one for tomorrow’s!

Topical Garlic Treatment for Vaginal Yeast Infections

Another way to use garlic for vaginal yeast infections is to treat the infection right at the source. Because garlic kills yeast, putting it right at the site of infection is a surefire way to cure your vaginal yeast infection quickly – it may even be gone with one treatment!

Recipe: Topical Application of Garlic for Vaginal Yeast Infections

1 clove of garlic, peeled

  • Insert the peeled clove of garlic into the vagina.
  • You should leave the garlic clove in overnight, removing it in the morning. Do not be alarmed if there is a watery discharge – this is natural and is just from the garlic.
  • After removing and discarding the garlic clove, be sure to clean the area thoroughly and then pay dry.
  • You can repeat this treatment as often as necessary, until the yeast infection has cleared up.

It is incredibly important to make sure you dry the area well, as candida loves warm, moist environments and you do not want to undo all of the hard work the garlic has just done!

In addition to curing yeast infections, garlic can even stop them from happening in the first place! Continue to include raw garlic in your daily diet and you’ll be able to not only treat yeast infections naturally – you’ll be able to prevent them entirely!
